Insurance and Affiliation

SFC offers 5 types of affiliation and insurance for clubs and other shooting organizations in Canada. If you are interested in opening your own shooting range, then you are required by law be insured. Insurance plans are either for clubs or individuals, as specified.

Notice: Registration for the 2025-2026 insurance season starts March 1, 2025.

SFC Affilation Only (Clubs)

Affiliation offers clubs and organizations involved in shooting sports, that are already insured elsewhere, membership with the Shooting Federation of Canada. The SFC is the sole national body for shooting sports recognized by the IOC and IPC and affiliation includes benefits like newsletters, event advertising on the SFC website, and discounts for the RTS program and Coast to Coast championships participation.

Affiliation and Directors & Officers (ADO)
Insurance (Clubs)

D&O coverage protects directors, officers, employees, members, and volunteers from claims of negligence or breach of duty under three agreements: personal insurance, which includes wrongful employment and membership practices coverage; fiduciary insurance for the administration of benefits programs; and coverage for derivative demands and crisis costs, including investigation and reputation management expenses.

ADO and General Liability
(Clubs)

The Commercial General Liability policy safeguards the Shooting Federation of Canada and its affiliates against third-party claims of injury or damage, covering activities like training and competitions. It includes premises liability, treats each entity separately for coverage, and excludes property insurance.

Firearm Legal Defense (Individual)

When a firearm owner is faced with a legal problem, the costs of legal representation can be debilitating. If you’re ever charged with a firearm related offence, Firearm Legal Defence defends your rights, provides you with a lawyer and covers your legal costs.

Acera Gun Guard (Individual)

Acera Insurance has developed GunGuard, a specialty insurance program for firearm owners in Canada. This program provides critical coverage for your firearms for loss, theft and damage.
